mac venomous villains

the most gorgeous collection i've seen in a while.
i love it.
check out the full range at the MAC website, or head to your nearest counter/store. fast.

packaging is amazing... i think i'll keep it for as long as i can (before johnjohn tells me to grow up and throw it out...)
the four featured villains are:
Cruella DeVil - 101 Dalmations
Evil Queen - Snow White
Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty
Dr. Facilier - The Princess and the Frog
over two visits to Myer Melbourne, i purchased seven items :)

from left:
Evil Queen Lipglass - Hot House
Maleficent Lipglass - Wrong Spell
Cruella Lipglass - Wicked Ways
Dr. Facilier Lip Gelee - Resort Life

from left:
Maleficent Nail Lacquer - Mean & Green
Evil Queen Powder Blush - Bite of an Apple
Dr. Facilier Magically Cool Liquid Powder - Truth & Light
-----------------------------------------------------------

first make up i've shown for ages!!

face:
L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Anti-Redness Primer
MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW15
Revlon ColourStay Foundation in Ivory
MAC Dr. Facilier Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth & Light

quick review on the powder: incredible. a very unusual product - feels wet to apply with a brush, but leaves a lovely, not-shiny, sheen. a nice alternative to matte pressed powder without going into something as dewy as a mineralise skinfinish natural.

cheeks:
MAC Bronzer in Golden
MAC Powder Blush in Coygirl
MAC Powder Blush in Well Dressed

eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Virgin (Naked Palette)
Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Naked (Naked Palette)
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
MAC Eye Shadow in Smolder
MAC Brow Set in Beguile
CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black

lips:
MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW15
Napoleon Auto Pilot Lip Primer
MAC Lip Liner in Nightmoth

donatello mask

this look did not come out at all how i planned it... i think because the pink shadow i used through my crease wasn't pigmented enough.  but it ended up looking pretty cool - i thought it was like a superhero mask - hence, the teenage ninja turtles reference :)

JohnJohn's choice: 'Red and Gold'

so, i asked john last night what i should do with my eyes tomorrow (today) and he said, "red... and gold" to which i replied "like Gryffindor!!" lol nerrrrrrd...

this is what i came up with:

EYES
highlight inner corners and under eyebrow using a pale gold shadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Nylon)

bright red matte shadow (Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette) in a semi-circle along the upper lashline in the centre of the eyelid with a flat brush

same brush, deep red matte shadow  (Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette) around the bright red to fill in the rest of the eyelid (blend together at the join)

switch to a pencil/bullet brush, using a deep, shimmery gold (Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Oraculum from Alice in Wonderland Palette), maintain the round shape of the shadow and place around the outer edge of the dark red

grab some more gold on a fluffy brush and blend out what you've just put down and soften the join between the dark red and gold.  here i pulled the colour quite a long way in toward my nose, but kept it high so that the inner corner highlight was still visible

with the pencil brush, line the lower lashline with the dark gold

blend out the top of the dark gold with your pale gold shadow, all the way around the eye, and up to the eyebrow

with a flat brush go over inner corner and eyebrow highlight with a sheer matte white shadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Gesso)

line your lower waterline with black kohl pencil (MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder) and blink really hard to transfer the colour to your upper waterline - this is easier than tightlining, where you have to pull your eyelid up and make them water trying to get the pencil on that upper waterline.  keep doing this (line and blink) until you're happy with the colour payoff.

lots of black mascara

do your eyebrows however you do them - i use MAC Brow Set in Beguile
