JohnJohn's choice: 'Red and Gold'

so, i asked john last night what i should do with my eyes tomorrow (today) and he said, "red... and gold" to which i replied "like Gryffindor!!" lol nerrrrrrd...

this is what i came up with:

EYES
highlight inner corners and under eyebrow using a pale gold shadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Nylon)

bright red matte shadow (Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette) in a semi-circle along the upper lashline in the centre of the eyelid with a flat brush

same brush, deep red matte shadow  (Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette) around the bright red to fill in the rest of the eyelid (blend together at the join)

switch to a pencil/bullet brush, using a deep, shimmery gold (Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Oraculum from Alice in Wonderland Palette), maintain the round shape of the shadow and place around the outer edge of the dark red

grab some more gold on a fluffy brush and blend out what you've just put down and soften the join between the dark red and gold.  here i pulled the colour quite a long way in toward my nose, but kept it high so that the inner corner highlight was still visible

with the pencil brush, line the lower lashline with the dark gold

blend out the top of the dark gold with your pale gold shadow, all the way around the eye, and up to the eyebrow

with a flat brush go over inner corner and eyebrow highlight with a sheer matte white shadow (MAC Eye Shadow in Gesso)

line your lower waterline with black kohl pencil (MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder) and blink really hard to transfer the colour to your upper waterline - this is easier than tightlining, where you have to pull your eyelid up and make them water trying to get the pencil on that upper waterline.  keep doing this (line and blink) until you're happy with the colour payoff.

lots of black mascara

do your eyebrows however you do them - i use MAC Brow Set in Beguile
